1. Who we are
PallettAi (“we”, “us”) operates calibreat.co.uk and the calibrEAT apps. Checkout itself is run by a Merchant of Record named on the payment page, who is the seller of record for the transaction: the MoR takes payment, handles UK/EU VAT/sales tax, issues the receipt and is named on your card statement. These Terms are between you and PallettAi for the license to use the app; payment and tax handling also follow the MoR’s terms at checkout (we link to them at the point of sale).
Who you buy from: calibrEAT is operated by PallettAi. Licence and support: support@calibreat.co.uk. Card payment is taken by a Merchant of Record named on the checkout page and on your receipt (they handle VAT and appear on your card statement). We do not publish a company number on this site.
2. What you’re buying
- Not the app binary — you buy a lifetime activation code (digital content not on a tangible medium, typically formatted like
AB12-CD34-EF56). The Android APK (when the build is ready) and a future iOS App Store build are not charged separately. - Scope: one code unlocks the full calibrEAT feature set on the devices where you activate it (food diary, barcode scan, water & weight, goals & insights), including every future update — no recurring charge on our side, ever. The app code does not confer any right to the underlying food databases (Open Food Facts) beyond what they already publish.
- No account in the app. Logs (meals, water, weight, profile) stay in a local on-device database (SQLite/AsyncStorage). See Privacy Policy.
- No physical goods. Nothing is shipped.
3. Price, payment, VAT and order acceptance
Price is £4.99 including VAT, shown on the license page and again at the Merchant of Record checkout. All prices include applicable UK VAT/sales tax as handled by the MoR.
- Payment: card / methods offered by the MoR. We never see full card numbers; the MoR does.
- Order acceptance: your order is accepted when the MoR confirms payment and we (via the MoR webhook) register the code to your buyer email. If payment fails, no code is created.
- Receipt: the MoR emails a receipt with order reference. Keep it — it also contains your code (and the code is re-emailed in the license email).
4. Delivery — instant email, and what to do if it doesn’t arrive
Delivery is digital and instant:
- On successful payment, the MoR (and our license API via webhook) generates your permanent code and emails it — typically within seconds — to the email you entered at checkout, with the subject containing your activation code.
- Enter that code on the app’s welcome screen (after verifying the same email via a 6-digit OTP) to unlock.
If you don’t see it: check spam/junk, check you typed the email correctly, and check the MoR’s “My orders” / customer portal (link on the receipt). Still missing? Email support@calibreat.co.uk with the buyer email and order reference and we will re-send (see also Refunds for non-delivery).
5. Your lifetime license — what you may and may not do
When activation succeeds we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual license to install and use calibrEAT for your personal, non-commercial use, unlocked by that code, on devices you control — subject to the 1 active device per code+email rule (see §6).
You may use every feature, keep every update we ship for that app, and export your local data (CSV/JSON) to back it up.
You may not:
- Share, resell, publish or auction the code; use a code bought with someone else’s email; or use automated means to guess/brute-force codes or OTPs.
- Copy, modify, reverse-engineer (except to the extent not capable of being excluded by law), distribute or circumvent the activation, or remove copyright/brand notices — other than fair-use/decompilation rights you cannot legally waive.
- Use the app or code for any unlawful purpose, or to build a competing database from our presentation of your logs.
We reserve all intellectual property in the app, site and brand. Your logs remain yours.
6. Activation, devices and moving to a new phone
| Topic | How it works |
|---|---|
| 3-step gate | In the app: enter email → receive 6-digit code (10-min expiry, 5-attempt lockout, 30 s resend cooldown, sent by Resend) → enter code → then enter lifetime code. The app sends { code, email, installId } (a random per-install UUID) to our license API. Release builds fail closed if the server can’t be reached — there is no offline guess. |
| 1 active device per purchase | A code bound to a verified email may be active on one device at a time — phone / tablet. You can move the slot, but not clone it. |
| Moving devices | On the old device: Deactivate on this device in the app (frees the slot immediately). On the new device: verify the same email and re-enter the same code. If the old device is lost/broken, email support — we can free the slot after verifying you own the buyer email. |
| Re-validation | The app may re-check /v1/validate online. If a code was refunded, charged back or revoked, the app will re-lock. A weak/lost connection does not lock you out — the stored license remains until the server gives a definitive verdict. |
| Refunded codes | Are revoked via the MoR webhook — they fail activation and validation thereafter. |
7. Updates included
Your one-time purchase includes every future update we ship for calibrEAT — features, fixes and compatibility updates — at no extra charge. If we ever ship a genuinely new product (different app/brand), that would be a separate purchase; we have no such plan.
8. Cancellation before delivery — your 14-day right and when you waive it
Because the code is digital content not on a tangible medium, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 apply:
- You have a 14-day right to cancel from the day the contract is concluded — unless you ask us to supply it immediately and acknowledge you will lose that right once supply begins.
- Our checkout requires you to tick a box that says (or substantially): “I consent to immediate supply of the activation code and acknowledge I lose my right to cancel once the code is delivered / supply has begun.” If you do not tick it, we wait and deliver after the 14-day cancellation period, or we do not conclude the contract.
- If you ticked and the code has been emailed/made available — supply has begun — you no longer have a right to cancel under reg. 29. The refund rules in Refunds then apply, which implement reg. 37(2) and (4).
- If you did not give that consent/acknowledgement, or we fail to give you the required confirmation (regs. 12(5)/16(3)), you do not pay for any supply in the cancellation period (reg. 37(4)), and you may cancel as per the regulations.
How to cancel before delivery (where still entitled): email support@calibreat.co.uk within 14 days stating you wish to cancel, or use the MoR’s cancellation mechanism before the code is delivered.
9. If the digital content is faulty, not as described or not supplied
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (CRA 2015), Chapter 3 (“Digital content”):
- Digital content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for any particular purpose made known to us, and as described (CRA 2015 ss. 34–36). If it is not, you are entitled to a repair or replacement; if that is impossible or not done within a reasonable time / without significant inconvenience, you are entitled to a price reduction (which may be up to a full refund) (ss. 42–45). Unlike goods, there is no 30-day short-term right to reject for digital content.
- If the code/content is not supplied at all or not available to download/access, we will make it available promptly or refund where the CRA requires it.
To exercise these rights, contact support@calibreat.co.uk describing the fault. We may ask for a screenshot, device/OS and the email used to buy.
10. Refunds — in brief
Your code is delivered instantly, so change-of-mind refunds aren’t available after delivery. If your code hasn’t arrived, doesn’t work, or isn’t as described, we’ll help and put it right — including a refund where that’s the right remedy under UK law. See the full Refunds page for the detail: duplicates, non-delivery, and what happens after a refund. Please read it before you buy — the checkout tick is your consent record.
11. What you need on your device
The app needs Android 8.0+ or iOS 15+ and an internet connection for activation, food-database searches and barcode scans; once unlocked, daily logging works offline. Open Food Facts availability is outside our control.
12. Intellectual property
The app, site, brand (monoline balance mark, wordmark), copy, design and code are owned by or licensed to PallettAi and protected by copyright and trade marks. Your food/water/weight logs and profile are your data (on-device) and you grant us no license over them unless you send them to us for support.
13. Not medical advice
calibrEAT helps you track eating and estimate calorie needs (Mifflin-St Jeor / TDEE). It is not medical, dietary or diagnostic advice. Consult a qualified professional for health decisions. We are not responsible for decisions you make based solely on the app’s estimates.
14. Liability — what we can and can’t limit under UK law
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability which cannot be excluded under UK law. Subject to that:
- We supply the app and code with reasonable care and skill (CRA 2015).
- We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach or failure to use reasonable care and skill, up to the price you paid for the license.
- We are not responsible for indirect loss, loss of profit, or events outside our reasonable control. Health data loss is mitigated by the in-app export — please use it before switching devices.
15. Changes to the app or these terms
We may update the app to add features, fix bugs, maintain compatibility, or meet legal obligations; we may update these Terms to reflect those changes or the MoR’s requirements. We will post the new version here with a new “Last updated” date and, for material changes, highlight them on calibreat.co.uk and in the app. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the new Terms; if you do not accept, do not buy a new license — your existing perpetual license for the version you bought is unaffected.
16. Law and jurisdiction
These Terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by English law. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, though as a consumer you may also bring proceedings in your local UK court (and where EU consumer law applies, in your member-state court).
17. Contact, complaints & ADR
Support / legal contact: support@calibreat.co.uk — we aim to reply within 2 business days. For refunds/quality issues, see Refunds and §9 above.
Complaints not resolved with us: you may bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales, or (if you are a UK consumer) in your local UK court. UK consumers may also contact the Citizens Advice Consumer Service (03454 04 05 06) for guidance. If we appoint a certified ADR provider we will name them here.
These terms describe the calibrEAT lifetime licence under UK law, including the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and Consumer Rights Act 2015. Checkout is handled by a Merchant of Record named on the payment page. Questions: support@calibreat.co.uk.
